It finally happened
Well the Video Teleconference with Rob actually happened We got to the VTC center around 1045 on Saturday morning, I was so nervous that he wasn't going to be there, but he was! The boys really enjoyed being able to see daddy on the T.V. screen and be able to talk to him.
Seeing him gave me butterflies, just like 6 years ago when we first started dating. Its amazing how his voice and his smile can bring back that feeling. Anytime I get to see him or talk to him, he just reaffirms every reason I feel in love with him.
Then Sunday morning I went and picked up a fellow Cincster (www.cinchouse.com) from the airport. Her husband was out here at Lewis for the ROTC program and she needed a ride from the airport and a place to crash. My daddy always told me to lend a helping hand when ever one was needed, so I really had no problem helping her out.
Today was the ceremony, and Jamie and Brandon invited us to join them for the ceremony. It was a very nice ceremony, and we got to see Jamie pin Brandon with his 2nd Lieutenant bar. The boys enjoyed the ceremony as well, especially when they fired the canons. What can I say, I truly do have two military brats.
Next month Rob will be home for R&R, so the boys and I are getting extremely excited about that. Granted we will have longer to go before the end of the deployment, but it will be awesome to see our soldier.
Many people ask me how I deal with Rob being "over there." Honestly, I just take it day by day, heck some days are minute by minute. Deployments are not an easy thing to go through, no matter how long it is. I hate the fact that Rob had to go, but I have complete faith in my husband, and I know he'll do whatever it takes to come back home to us. To be completely honest, I couldn't be more proud of my husband for doing a job that he loves and protecting everything he believes in.
