Cub Scouts, Popcorn....OH MY!
Ever since Rob left back for Iraq, after our 18 wonderful days together, I have been down right busy. For starters, I had to play catch up on house cleaning and laundry. The whole time Rob was here, I really didn't clean, aside from just picking things up and making sure the kitchen was clean.
Then Cub Scouts got started, den meetings, completing tasks, and selling popcorn for the fund raiser. Jonathon is really doing great with the scouts so far, and he really seems to enjoy it. I'm glad that he has found something, aside from video games, that he really likes. Selling popcorn has been fun, this last time selling, the boys sold $315.00 in popcorn and made a little over $100.00 in donations. That was a big night for them, and they boys were so proud of themselves.
In school, they have started sending homework home. Oh yay! That is so much fun. Actually its not to awful bad. Jonathon just has the problem of not wanting to do it. He doesn't understand why he does work at school and then the teachers send home more work for him to do at home, that took some time to explain. On a different note, he is learning to read. Such an amazing and wonderful thing, yet torture all at the same time. He tends to get frustrated rather quickly when trying to sound out the words.
Austin has even been having "homework" as well. In his pre-k 4 class they have been working on writing their names. Now for Austin this is a big thing, considering this time last year his vocabulary only consisted of about 5 words, now he is doing sentences. Sometimes it's still really hard to understand him, but he is getting much better.
I have recently taken on two volunteer positions in an attempt to keep myself active. I am now co-leader of the FRG in Rob's company, and the co-leader of the den for cub scouts. So far so good, but its still fairly early, so we shall see later on how its all going.
Well off to finish the FRG leader course.
