Seriously not cool!
I would just like to start off by saying, the scariest thing for a wife or the parents of a deployed military member is a knock at the door or government vehicle diving by or parked out front.
So this morning I was up in my bedroom folding some laundry when I heard the doorbell ring. I really didn't think anything of it, because about the time it rang is typically when the boys friends knock on the door. So I just continued on with folding the laundry.
My oldest son comes running up the stairs yelling at me "Mom there are two army men at the door" My heart literally dropped to my feet. So I walk into the toy room and look out the window, sure enough there sits a government car. By this time I am starting to freak out, awful thoughts running through my head.
As calmly as I can, I walk downstairs and open the front door. "We are sorry to bother you Mrs. H" I'm standing there shaking as one of them talk. "I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that my wife and I would be moving in next door"
Why on earth did you find it necessary to ring my doorbell in uniform with your buddy?????????? And they were in their dress uniforms, which just really made it worse. I mean seriously! Over half the guys on this post are deployed, so to knock on a door all decked out in uniform is really, really not funny
not to mention parking a government car in front of my house
Now that my heartbeat as finally slowed back down, I can kind of laugh about it, but really that was scary.

Even with your little intro at the beginning which alluded to the fact that they indeed were NOT there to announce bad news MY heart was still beating faster and faster and I even said "Oh no..." and then "Oh good!" and then "Oh what a jerk!"
Seriously - you so do not need that stress!
But really, it IS kind of funny :)
Where is your husband stationed right now?
Wow, I'd have lit into them for that after my heart went back to my chest, and then told them to bring beer next time. ;) Good grief, they should know better!
