Relaxing Sunday
Well our Sunday was great. The boys had a friend sleep over Saturday night, so they didn't crash until around midnight. Then of course after I got them to sleep, I got my second wind. So I was up surfing the web until 3ish. Then up at around 7 to let Sallie, our chocolate lab out, then back to lay down for two more hours. Then the boys decided to get up. So around 10:00 I was making French toast.
Then around noon I decided to get dinner on the stove, yes, I started dinner at noon. Today I made a cabbage casserole, very similar to cabbage rolls, but without the hassle of actually rolling the cabbage leaves. I had intended on putting it in the crock pot and just letting it sit on low all day, but due to the fact that I was still half asleep at 7, I decided against that. So I just threw everything in my cast iron dutch oven and let it simmer all afternoon. I found a great recipe online for the casserole, but added a few of my own ideas to it, and it turned out really well. I think next time however I will use sausage and hamburger.
Around 1400 I started shredding zucchini for my zucchini bread. Finally got the bread all mixed up and in the oven around 1530 (I took quite a few breaks). Then around 1730 we sat down to dinner. The casserole turned out great and the bread was excellent. I can't wait for Rob to get home, and I can cook all these wonderful things I have been learning how to make.
The boys had fun, Jonathon headed out the door shortly after lunch and spent the greater part of the day outside. He did run inside every time it started raining, which we had quite a few showers today. Austin never even got dressed today. He sat in the papasan chair all afternoon playing the X box 360.
Then after dinner they went to one of their friends house to play and I cleaned up the kitchen. After that I got them in and bathed them, then off to read a story, then bed. Speaking of reading stories, around here, we don't read stories per se, we read the letters daddy has written them. Rob has been really good about writing a letter to each of them, and they really enjoy mommy reading the letters to them. The boys also write daddy back. Jonathon of course is better at the writing than Austin, but Austin loves to draw daddy pictures.
Now I've got the boys in bed, and I'm just going to work on my cross stitching and watch Army Wives on Life time, then I'll probably head to bed, so I can get up and start laundry.
Here is a picture of Austin having his lazy Sunday.
He learned from the best
